PurposeThe purpose of this policy is to establish the procedures to be followed by the student body, faculty, and staff in the event someone on our campus requires immediate medical attention. Implementation of these procedures whenever necessary mitigates a potentially life-threatening situation. PrioritiesEmbry Riddle Aeronautical University first priority is to each person's safety. In the event a member of our campus community requires medical assistance, the University is committed to bringing the best care possible, as quickly as possible to the affected person or persons. Expectations for Employees and StudentsIn the event of a medical emergency on campus, immediately call Campus Safety at 386-226-SAFE (7233) Daytona; 928-777-3728 Prescott. Your Campus Safety department will then dispatch the appropriate personnel (Campus Safety Officers and MED Club personnel, and EVAC Ambulance). CommunicationsEmbry-Riddle Aeronautical University will communicate with the campus community by the most appropriate of the following means if the situation warrants:
Responsibility and ControlThe Incident Command System will be used as directed by the National Incident Management System. It is the responsibility of Campus Safety Officers to secure the area around the emergency and to guide outside agencies to the emergencies location on campus. MED Club personnel will be responsible for patient care until patient handoff occurs with responding agencies (Normally EVAC Ambulance).
