IF A SITUATION REQUIRES A SHELTER IN-PLACE, TAKE THE FOLLOWING ACTION
Shelter in place is used for any type of emergency where it is safer to secure yourself in the current location. The situation may be weather-related or because of a hostile situation.
- Proceed to an emergency shelter area until Campus Safety & Security officials advise it is safe to leave.
- Close all windows and exterior doors.
- Attempt to seal outside doors, windows and elevator shafts with tape if available.
- Turn off outside ventilation systems (i.e., air conditioning, heat, attic fans, etc.)
- Do not use elevators.
- Follow all University Emergency Information sources.
