Aircraft Accident Quick Reference

In the event an aircraft crashes onto the campus take the following actions:

  1. Immediately call 911. Inform the dispatcher of:
    1. The location of the crash
    2. The quickest route to the crash
    3. The type of aircraft, if known.
      1. If not known, describe it. Is the plane large or small?
      2. How many engines does it have?
  2. Instruct someone else to call Campus Safety & Security at 386-226-SAFE (7233) Daytona; 928-777-3739 Prescott.
  3. Check for movement or life in the plane, if safe.
  4. If flames are visible, inform the dispatcher.
  5. Until the authorities arrive, attempt to establish a perimeter.
    1. Try to keep people away from the plane, and if there is debris, try to leave it in its position.
  6. Follow the direction of emergency responders.
