RESPONSE

If a psychological crisis occurs:

  1. Remain calm. Do not attempt to handle a dangerous situation. Evacuate immediate area if needed.
  2. Notify Campus Safety & Security at Daytona: 386-226-7233(SAFE) or Prescott: 928-777-3739. Call 911 if immediate threat to safety. Provide the following information:
    1. Your name.
    2. Precise location.
    3. Observed symptoms of behavior.
    4. Individual's name, if known.
    5. Until help arrives, be pleasant, considerate, and understanding to avoid aggravating the situation.
  3. Do not argue with the individual. Try to determine and recognize the individual's point of view. Do not confront / detain the individual.
  4. Have someone meet Campus Safety & Security or police at the entrance to the building and provide up to date information. Campus Safety & Security will provide direction from that point forward. The Counseling Center may be called for assistance as needed.
  5. After hours, use lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.
